DTE Foundation increases community giving to $18.1 in 2017!
DTE Foundation has been a partner of 8MBA for many years, supporting our work and believing in our mission to revitalize and promote 8 Mile Boulevard. While others are decreasing their charitable giving, DTE increased their support of programs across Michigan by 20% in 2017. Without their generosity, organizations like ours could not do the work that we do in the communities we serve. Not only has DTE helped us with grants for projects like Hands on 8 Mile and sponsorship of our Annual Leadership Luncheon, they donated 18 trees last year to help restore the canopy in a park along 8 Mile. DTE also lends valuable guidance by sitting on our board of directors and several committees. Thank you, DTE Foundation!

Hands on 8 Mile Plants 18 Trees in Royal Oak Township Park
On October 14th, 2017, despite chilly temperatures and pouring rain, volunteers, devoted friends, and WAM (Weekend Alternatives for Misdeamors), gathered in a Royal Oak Township park to replace 18 trees destroyed by the Ash Borer. Royal Oak Township is a proud member of 8 Mile Boulevard's partner communities. The project was part of Hands on 8 Mile, 8MBA's beautification & neighborhood-building project that has traditionally been an annual event. However, due to the generous donation of the 18 trees by DTE Energy Foundation through ReLeaf Michigan, 8MBA was able to do a second Hands on 8 Mile event this Fall.
In addition to DTE Energy Foundation, 8MBA would like to thank Marvin Pettway of ReLeaf, Redico, Gil Christowski, Bill Whitmer, and WAM. We would have never got those trees in the ground without you!
