       This is quite a milestone for any non-profit organization; however, we are particularly proud of our longevity
       as 8MBA was one of the first corridor groups to be established in southeast Michigan.

       To celebrate, we’ve come up with a list of 15 fun facts about 8MBA and Eight Mile!

       1.    8MBA was established in 1993 as a 501(c)(3) organization.

       2.    8MBA has invested and leveraged over $6 million in public and private funds for corridor enhancements.

       3.   Eight Mile Road is the oldest line ever drawn on a map in the state. It was commissioned by the Land
             Ordinance Act of 1785 to be the surveying standards for the entire upper Midwest.

       4.   8MBA hosts one of the most prominent fundraisers in the region- the Leadership Luncheon.

      5.    We’ve been instrumental in courting the first mall in the City of Detroit in nearly 50 years!

      6.    Eight Mile Road is home to the nation’s oldest state fair- the Michigan State Fair- which is on the
             National Register of Historical Places.

      7.    We keep our annual membership dues low ($28) so you can stay informed without breaking your budget!

      8.     Eight Mile Road derives its name from being exactly 8 miles north of the Detroit River.

      9.    After jumping Lake Michigan, Eight Mile Road / Baseline is also the state line between Wisconsin and Illinois.

     10.   The world famous racehorse Seabiscuit ran and won his first race at the Michigan State Fairgrounds on
             August 22, 1936.

     11.   Rapper Eminem provided Eight Mile Road with internationally acclaim, not to mention he’s collaborated
             on a fundraiser with 8MBA!

     12.   University of Michigan students selected eight projects on Eight Mile and developed innovation solutions
             to jumpstart investment.

     13.   The bridge at Eight Mile and Woodward is on National Register of Historical Places.    

     14.   Riley Skate Park in Farmington Hills will be the first skate park on Eight Mile Road

     15.    Livonia is home to the historic Greenmead Farms, which is also on the National Register of Historical Places.
